Another important aspect of shows is that farmers can gain recognition for the hard work and dedication that goes into producing an animal. They are also an opportunity for farmers to build their reputation in the industry.
In addition, farmers can learn from other farmers, and educate the general public on animal production. This is an opportunity for farmers essentially to engage with the end-user: the consumer. While stud breeders produce animals for other stud breeders and commercial farmers, it is the consumer who drives animal production due to the principle of supply and demand.
By attending shows and observing the traits of top-performing animals, farmers can make informed decisions about which animals to breed and which traits to select for in their own breeding programmes.
