On screen, Hugh Jackman has a gift for making everything look effortless - whether he's battling bad guys or belting out a tune. But in his personal life, the star, 54, secretly struggled with an unresolved childhood trauma. When he was 8, Hugh's mother left their home in Australia and never returned. "I thought she was probably going to come back. And&nbsp;then it sort of dragged on and on," he told Australia's Who magazine, adding that he recently started going to therapy to help him come to terms with his past. "Having someone really smart, who's a little bit removed from your world, can be really helpful," Hugh admitted.

"We all need a village." Now, as the relationship between mother and son grows stronger every day, Hugh is thankful. "I don't feel like a victim," he said. "I feel very blessed actually in many ways."
