Given his fitness levels, it's hard to envision Anil Kapoor as a 65-year-old man. He's soon to become a grandfather and is looking forward to becoming a child once more in the company of his grandchild. He's always been a family man throughout and says the bond he shares with his family is what has helped him tide over the various ups and downs of his career. Workwise, he shows no signs of slowing down. He was recently seen in the social comedy Jug Jugg Jeeyo and according to some critics, was the best thing about the movie. He's managed to stay relevant even after 40 years in the industry, and that's no mean feat. In an engaging interview, he talks about his family, his children, and his career choices. Excerpts:
You are going to step into a new role as a grandfather. What would you like to say about this?
I was ecstatic when I came to know about Sonam’s pregnancy. It’s a beautiful thing. We are excited and thankful. We just want the child to be healthy.
What kind of tips would you like to give Sonam for parenting?
I am not the right person to give tips. They say you don’t know till it really happens. I think mothers know it more. Yesterday I just called her to ask about her. She said, “Dad, I am shopping.” She is very happy.
What kind of a mom do you think Sonam would be?
Moms in general are a little overprotective. I think you should not be that protective. In our case, we love all three kids. Everybody’s demands and needs are different. Some are emotionally dependent, and some want to be independent. So we are also learning the art of parenting or how to become a better parent.
