In the ever-evolving landscape of entertainment and digital media, the line between influencers and traditional actors is blurring. Dolly Singh, a prominent name in the world of Indian content creation, has successfully made this transition. In a candid conversation, she opens up about her journey, experiences and aspirations in the realm of acting. Dolly acknowledges that transitioning from being an influencer to an actress was not a seamless process. As an influencer, she was accustomed to creating content independently, primarily using a single camera and scripting her own material. The shift to working on a film set, surrounded by a crew of hundreds of established actors and a director guiding her, was initially daunting. Her first experience left her feeling nervous and out of her element. “The first time that I did that, I was thrown off. I didn’t know what to do. I was very nervous,” she recalls. “I remember being quite bad on the first day of acting on a set.” However, she emphasises that despite the challenges, she has grown more comfortable on set over time and thrives in the collaborative atmosphere of film production.
Dolly candidly describes her journey to becoming a content creator as accidental. After college and a brief stint in the corporate world, she joined a publication, where she worked as a writer and a junior stylist. It was during this time that the opportunity to create video content arose. Dolly and her colleagues were tasked with creating videos and it was this experience that set her on the path to becoming an influencer and content creator.
