The RR Kabel Filmfare Awards Marathi 2024 unfolded with much fanfare at the Mahakavi Kalidas Natya Mandir in Mumbai on April 18. This unforgettable evening was hosted by the charismatic duo of Amey Wagh and Siddharth Chandekar, who elevated the entertainment quotient a notch higher with their playful banter, quirky antics, and hilarious quips. As we celebrated the achievements of Marathi cinema, the red carpet simultaneously came alive with industry figures showcasing their unique style statements. Among the many glamorous faces present were Suhas Joshi, Ankush Choudhary, Rinku Rajguru, Gauri Nalawade, Adityanath Kothari, Tejasswi Prakash, Sonali Kulkarni, Deesha Katkar, Kishori Shahane, Hardik Joshi, amongst others, each adding their own spark to the event's dazzling ambiance.
Legendary theatre and cine actress Suhas Joshi was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. The award was presented to her by her Jhimma co-stars, Sayali Sanjeev, Rinku Rajguru, Kshitee Jog, Nirmitee Sawant, all of whom spoke highly of the veteran. They pointed out how the actor insisted on being addressed just as Suhas and scolded them if they used an honorific.
Being around her taught them things like discipline and punctuality, and they mentioned that they were bowled over by her passion for her craft, which hasn't dimmed over the passage of time.
The actress herself reflected that when she began acting, she was lucky enough to work with several stalwarts of stage and cinema, who shaped her into what she is today. She added that one passes on what one has learnt and that's how a tradition gets moulded.
Shashank Shende was the winner of the Best Actor In A Leading Role (Male) trophy for Baaplyok. His joy was palpable when he came on stage. The actor mentioned that winning the Black Lady was one of the rare dream come true moments.

Kiran Rao, Payal Kapadia and Shuchi Talati are redefining contemporary Indian cinema by placing women at the centre of their narratives, offering a refreshing perspective through the female gaze. Their films, Laapataa Ladies, All We Imagine As Light, and Girls Will Be Girls, not only explore women-oriented stories but also challenge the traditional male-dominated lens of storytelling, creating nuanced portrayals of women's experiences, aspirations and struggles.
