The SECOND coming

Sikandar Kher. One always feels he hasn't lived up to his potential. Ask him that and he agrees. He says he's learning to tap it more and looking at his performance in Monica, O My Darling, one feels he's succeeding. He plays the morally ambiguous Nishikant Adhikari in the film. And his no-nonsense approach to life is one of the film's highlights. Critics have loved his performance and some are even saying that at long last, he has found his calling. Excerpts from a heart-to-heart interview with the actor:

FIRST AARYA AND NOW MONICA, O MY DARLING, YOU HAVE RECEIVED A LOT OF PRAISE FOR YOUR PERFORMANCES. DO YOU THINK YOUR JOURNEY IN THE OTT SPACE HAS GIVEN YOU MORE OPPORTUNITIES AS AN ACTOR?

OTT is a great platform for actors and it has a wide reach. So people get to know you better. It has enabled people to work with the best of the best. And I am thankful for that. I am sure it will continue to give us more opportunities to explore and grow as actors.

HOW IS DIRECTOR VASAN BALA DIFFERENT FROM OTHER DIRECTORS?

Vasan Bala is known for his unique style of storytelling. He often uses non-linear narratives and unconventional editing techniques to tell his stories. He also likes to explore the dark side of human nature and the complexities of relationships. He is also known for his use of music and sound design to create a unique atmosphere in his films.

WHAT SORTS OF DIFFICULTIES DO YOU ENCOUNTER AS AN ACTOR?

There are challenges every day. I want to give every scenario my utmost best. But as an actor, I always think, "Yaar, it might have been better," once I finish doing something. There is always a struggle for perfection, yet perfection does not exist. You feel embarrassed if you provide a subpar performance in a movie.
