 Gujarat has long been a favourite destination for Bollywood filmmakers due to its rich cultural heritage and diverse landscapes. Gujarat’s locations have added an extra layer of magic to many memorable films, from timeless romantic songs to epic action sequences. Gujarat has been a popular destination for filmmakers due to its diverse landscape and rich cultural heritage. Let’s take a look at some of the films which have been shot at iconic Gujarat locations over the years.

LAGAAN

The filming of Aamir Khan starrer Lagaan, which married cricket to a rustic way of life took place in Kunariya village near Bhuj. Vijay Villas Palace and Prag Mahal are two prominent Gujarat locations where the record-breaking film was shot.

REFUGEE

Refugee, was directed by J. P. Dutta, starring Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor in their debut roles, was shot in various locations in the Kutch region of Gujarat, including the city of Bhuj in the Kutch District of Gujarat, which served as the base for the crew. The majority of the shooting took place in the Great Rann of Kutch, a salt marsh in the Thar Desert.

PIKU 

The heartwarming family drama Piku, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan, featured scenes shot near Surendranagar, Gujarat. The serene landscapes of Gujarat added to the film’s authenticity and charm, making it a must-visit destination for movie buffs.
