ANIMAL researchers are going ape over something they've never seen before a wild orangutan figuring out how to treat his wounds with painkilling medicinal plants!

Rakus, a thirtysomething orangutan, emerged from a fight with other males in the treetops of a rainforest in Sumatra, Indonesia, sporting quite a shiner he had a pink, open wound right below his right eyelid and another inside his mouth.

Fortunately, it turned out there was a doctor in the house! Rakus seemed to know just what to do to make himself feel better and help his wounds heal faster and without infection.
