FAMED author Salman Rushdie barely cheated death when a crazed would-be assassin leaped onstage at a lecture and stabbed the author at least ten times!

The terrifying attack came as Rushdie, 75 — who’d been living under a death bounty for 32 years put on him by Iran’s late leader Ayatollah Khomeini — was about to speak at an Aug. 12 literary fair in New York’s Chautauqua Institution.

Suddenly, a man ran onto the platform and “stabbed him repeatedly and viciously.”
