HELLO! UK|September 09, 2024
One of the most anticipated sequels in recent years kicked off the Venice Film Festival last week as Beetlejuice Beetlejuice reunited a stellar cast for the first time in 40 years.
AS BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE' OPENS THE VENICE FILM FESTIVAL WINONA RYDER POSES WITH CO-STAR JENNA ORTEGA AND TALKS ABOUT RECREATING HER ROLE IN THE SPOOKY SEQUEL

Leading the way on the red carpet for the first screening of the film was one of its stars, Winona Ryder, looking fabulous in a Chanel haute couture tuxedo dress. Matching her in the style stakes was her co-star Jenna Ortega who wore a backless scarlet tulle Dior gown that featured a cut-out heart design as she posed for photographers in front of the Palazzo del Cinema at the festival's opening night.

The 21-year-old star has been paying homage to the original Beetlejuice with her red carpet looks, and this particular outfit was designed to emulate the one worn in the wedding scene between Michael Keaton and Winona's characters in the 1988 movie.

"I was a huge fan of the first one," Jenna said of working with director Tim Burton, with whom she also collaborated on hit Netflix show Wednesday. "He's somebody I trust immensely."

Meanwhile, Cate Blanchett upped the glamour stakes in a shimmering champagne-colored silk gown by Armani Privé as she walked the red carpet, and Michael and fellow original Beetlejuice star Catherine O'Hara - in sparkling Oscar de la Renta posed for photographers.

Rising star Taylor Russell garnered a great deal of attention in her spectacular white vintage Chanel gown, while her fellow actress Monica Bellucci, who arrived hand in hand with her director beau Tim, was also stylish in a gown by Vivienne Westwood.
