It is one of the most significant celebrations in the British TV calendar, so when the Bafta Television Awards took place at the Royal Festival Hall, hello! was on the red carpet to greet stars including Tess Daly, Claudia Winkleman, Hannah Waddingham, Helena Bonham Carter and Alex Scott.
And it wasn’t just TV royalty on the guest list – Bafta also welcomed its president, the Prince of Wales, who surprised guests by speaking in a moving video message during the ceremony.
Arriving in all their finery, stars from the worlds of acting and entertainment upped the ante on the fashion front.
Strictly Come Dancing co-hosts Tess and Claudia, who collected the award for Best Entertainment Programme in the show’s 20th year, doubled up in pristine white.
ALL WHITE ON THE NIGHT
Tess, who described the win as “the best birthday present” for Strictly, chose a one-shouldered gown by Rachel Gilbert, while her fellow presenter donned a trouser suit from The Kooples.
It was also all white on the night for two former Strictly contestants – singer and radio DJ Mollie King and former Paralympic swimming champion Ellie Simmonds.
Ted Lasso actress Hannah Waddingham, who scooped the gong for Best Live Event Coverage as the host of last year’s Eurovision Song Contest, channelled oldschool Hollywood glamour in a long black dress with plenty of sparkle.
GOLDEN GIRL
Poldark’s Eleanor Tomlinson, The Crown star Elizabeth Debicki and presenter Davina McCall also sported dark gowns.
