She’s a royal chameleon whose colourful outfits can brighten up the rainiest day or the most ordinary event.
Over the past year, the Princess of Wales’s fashion choices have been like a ray of sunshine, following in the footsteps of Elizabeth II to take on the role of “Rainbow Queen”.
Just as her husband’s grandmother always made sure she wore bright colours so she stood out in a crowd, Kate, 41, never fails to dazzle with her bold choices, covering the whole colour spectrum with stylish ensembles from stunning scarlet to proud purple.
Her diplomatic touch often sees her wearing colours that support good causes or give a nod to her host country on tours outside the UK or when greeting guests from overseas.
We have witnessed the Princess stepping out in a variety of eye-catching outfits throughout the last year, from the red dress, hat and shoes combo she wore to Royal Ascot in June to sunny yellow for Wimbledon last year.
Over the following pages, a host of fashion experts give their verdict on how Kate’s colourful wardrobe is proving to be such a style triumph…
Royal photographer MAX MUMBY, who has travelled all over the world with Kate and other royals, tells HELLO!:
It's always nice royals step out of the car in bright colours because it makes the picture pop, which means the event they're at and charity or organisation they are there to support gets better coverage. I think Kate realises that and she also makes sure she dresses appropriately for the occasion, such as wearing green for anything to do with Irish culture.
