‘ALINA'S BACK TO STIR THE POT'

It’s been almost three years since Alina Pop dramatically left Weatherfield, but actress Ruxandra Porojnicu reveals she’s back to “stir the pot”. Coronation Street fans last saw Alina in September 2021, when she left heartbroken after Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) ended their relationship to get back with Fiz (Jennie McAlpine). However, a cliffhanger hinted Alina may have been pregnant with Tyrone’s baby.

“I think I kind of manifested it because I was thinking about it just a month before,” Ruxandra, 31, says about her character’s shock return. “I was wondering when it would be the case for her to come back and cause some more drama, stir the pot.”

“I kind of sensed it. I’ve been playing her for two years and I know how things go on Coronation Street,” she laughs.

Now, with Tyrone and Fiz stronger than ever, it seems like the perfect time for Alina to return to “bring the drama” once again, although her comeback initially has nothing to do with Tyrone.

“Alina’s return to Coronation Street comes after she is a witness in a court trial against traffickers,” Ruxandra explains. “She feels like she should avoid Tyrone and Fiz for sure.”
