Sometimes the grass isn’t always greener, and that could certainly be the case for the Duchess of Sussex. Not only did Meghan switch careers and quit acting in 2017 when her relationship with Prince Harry became serious – despite playing the role of Rachel Zane in hit US TV-show Suits since 2011 – but her personal life changed dramatically too.
Meghan gave up her life in Toronto – where she had a host of A-list pals and enjoyed lavish private members’ clubs – after the pair got engaged. However, according to a source, Meghan has learnt the hard way that being a duchess isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be.
The source said, “Meghan has made no secret of how much she misses her carefree life when she was an actress. And while she’d never change what she has with Harry and the kids, there is a big part of her that wishes she could just get her old life back.
“She loved being in Suits and all the opportunities it gave her, she’d get invited to all the exclusive events and get to hang out with Hollywood A-listers. There was also so much less scrutiny and attention, and there was no pressure on her.”
Meghan has also found a new friendship with actor and philanthropist Kimberly Williams-Paisley, and they were recently spotted enjoying lunch together at a cool California spot – the same restaurant where Meghan celebrated her 42nd birthday last year.
Kimberly – who is best known for her role in the 1991 romantic comedy Father Of The Bride – is the wife of country star Brad Paisley and has lived in Santa Barbara, where Meghan and Harry have lived since summer 2020, for decades.
