Motherhood is a journey that comes with many highs and lows, and while it’s important to share the good times, it’s also refreshing when mums speak out about the more challenging moments.
Sophie ‘Mrs Hinch’ Hinchliffe is one of many stars leading the way when it comes to sharing the stark realities of parenthood. After taking a social media break due to “personal life stumbles”, the popular cleaning influencer admitted she wants to be open and speak about “the real s**t”.
Explaining that both her dad and nan had been in hospital, she also revealed she was going through “a few different assessments” with her eldest son Ronnie, who has previously had speech therapy.
Parenting expert Amanda Jenner has praised those who aren’t afraid to open up about mum stress, saying it helps others to know they’re not alone.
“It’s so important that as a parent we do show the highs, so we can celebrate what we have achieved with our children’s development. But equally, it’s important to show the lows as this has a massive impact on other parents that may feel a failure,” she tells us. “It’s not healthy to portray perfection in parenting. Sharing the daily struggles is something I feel we need to show more of. We need to know we’re not the only ones.”
It’s even more beneficial when high-profile parents speak out. Amanda adds, “It can help mums when celebs speak out, to know that it’s not all glamour and roses in their daily life of parenting.”
