After eights weeks of firepit flirts, controversial recouplings and tantalising head turns, Love Island is wrapping up. Four couples may have reached the finish line, but will they go the distance once they leave the ITVBe villa?

Here, dumped Islander Catherine Agbaje gives her verdict on whether her fellow castmates’ love will last in the real world, from the “fake” Ella B and Mitchel to the “very cute” Whitney and Lochan.

“Outside the villa is very different,” says Catherine. “I feel you really need to be truly in love for it to work. You’re in this bubble for so long where you don’t have the internet, you don’t have opinions, you don’t have family, you literally just have each other. Then you come out and it’s like, ‘Well, this is our reality and we need to adjust to it.’ If it works in the villa, it doesn’t mean it will work on the outside.”

It’s been a bumpy ride for Jess, who has been in the villa since day one, and her on-off beau Sammy with the pair getting to know various bombshells throughout the competition. However, Catherine thinks there’s hope for them, although it won’t be easy.

“I think Jess really, really likes Sammy and I do believe Sammy likes Jess as well. It did take him a bit longer to get to the same stage,” she says. “But I do believe they are at the same stage now. Obviously they’re boyfriend-girlfriend but they definitely will have their work cut out for them.”
