The news of a royal baby always helps to raise the national mood. This was true once again following the announcement that Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, are expecting a second child in spring.
The new addition will be 11th in line to the throne and a sibling for Edo’s son, Christopher Woolf ‘Wolfie’ Mapelli Mozzi, eight, and the couple’s daughter, Sienna Mapelli Mozzi, three. The news was issued alongside a sweet family photograph, and confirmation King Charles had been informed, with both families said to be “delighted”.
After 10 months that have been punctuated by bad news and difficult moments for the royal family, this latest update will undoubtedly have brought great joy.
“Beatrice and Eugenie have come through a traumatic childhood and adolescence incredibly well balanced, in spite of all they’ve witnessed and experienced,” former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond exclusively tells OK! “This pregnancy news is confirmation both girls have now established their own tight family units, while remaining close to both of their parents. That’s quite an achievement, as broken families often create a legacy of emotional turmoil. But whatever else you might say about Andrew and Sarah, they have kept the happiness of their two girls front and centre of their lives.”
