The weather’s getting warmer, the evenings are lighter and the trees and flowers around us are beginning to come to life. It’s safe to say that spring has sprung.
And now is the perfect time to make positive changes to your lifestyle too, because this season can really boost your motivation levels, as well as your mood.
“With the days getting longer and the weather becoming more stable and pleasant, many people use springtime as a spring clean both in their homes and their lifestyle,” says psychologist Dr Rachael Molitor. “Many of us feel low moods in the winter, but spring offers a positive time to look forward to the lighter, warmer days to come.
“For many of us, new year’s resolutions may have gone by the wayside, but springtime serves as an opportunity to make long-lasting changes to our health and wellbeing.”
If you’re finding it difficult to shrug off that feeling of winter lethargy, rest assured there’s plenty you can do to blow away the cobwebs. Here are some simple key changes you can introduce now that will make a positive and permanent difference…
1 DECLUTTER
Spring cleaning doesn’t just make your home look tidier – it also benefits your mood and even your health.
“Mentally, decluttering can make you feel calmer, happier and more in control. A tidier space can make for a more relaxed mind,” says Alison Cullen, nutritional practitioner and sleep consultant for A Vogel.
“Deep cleaning your home is also good for your physical health. You may live in an organised mess, but it’s difficult to clean around clutter, which can lead to dust and mould.”
