'I'M EXCITED MY BABY WILL HAVE THE LIONESSES AS ROLE MODELS'

Women's football has never been more of a source of pride, thanks to England's Lionesses. But we have to give credit to the other power women in the game.

In-demand sports reporter Kelly Somers, who presents on BBC and Channel 4 among others, has just returned from fronting Australian channel Optus Sports' coverage of the FIFA Women's World Cup. And now the 32-year-old, who lives in North London with her fiancé Max, 34, is focusing on a very different set of fixtures in her packed diary - namely scans, due dates and renovation deadlines as she exclusively reveals to OK! that she's expecting her first baby later in the year.

Kelly, who looks absolutely radiant even just a few days after the long trip home from Australia, is overjoyed to share the happy news as she nears her third trimester.

"I'm excited that my baby is going to be born in a generation with the Lionesses as role models," she tells us.

Kelly says she's so proud of England's "incredible" women, but as OK! goes to press, the final against Spain is yet to happen.

"I think that's what I'm almost more proud of - whatever happens over the next few days - to get there they've had to fight. They've just done us so proud.

"I just hope this momentum continues. You see little girls playing in playgrounds and I hear of friends' kids playing football at school. They've made women's football more accessible. They've opened people's eyes."

Kelly's journey to motherhood hasn't been an easy one, she tells us.

"I never, ever thought I would get to be a mum," she admits. "I've grown up thinking it wouldn't be possible. I've had so many problems, so I just feel incredibly fortunate.

"At my age, everyone knows someone who's going through fertility problems or who has a bad story, and I always thought I was going to be one of those stories."
