As Faye Brookes and Iwan Lewis said their wedding vows, the couple felt like their 200 nearest and dearest seemed to fade from view and all they could see was each other.
The former Coronation Street actress and her theatre producer husband tied the knot on 23 August at a beautiful church ceremony in the Cotswolds. And when we speak with the newlyweds the day after their romantic ceremony, they’re still “floating on a cloud” of happiness.
“It was everything I dreamt of and more,” says Faye, who gets emotional as she stops to reflect on their beautiful nuptials.
“I was lost for words at points during the day, it was amazing,” Iwan adds.
The couple were married at the 13th-century church St John The Baptist in the village of Shipton Moyne, Gloucestershire, near where they live. They tell us having a church ceremony was meaningful to them both and all part of their love story.
“It’s a church we’ve been going to since Faye moved to the Cotswolds,” Iwan, 34, says.
“It does feel like a little girl’s dream to have her fairy-tale ending and I had it all,” Faye, 35, adds.
The wedding procession began with Faye’s five bridesmaids – her sisters Nicky and Jodie, and close friends Djalenga, Sophie and Rebecca, looking stunning in sage, who escorted the flower girls down the aisle. These were Iwan’s nieces and two of the bridesmaids’ children, wearing “angel dresses” and floral crowns. They were all followed by the couple’s two Pomeranians, Bao and Bear, sporting adorable bow ties. This particularly choked Iwan up.
