He may have had one of the most challenging weeks of his life, but King Charles put on a brave face and smiled for the cameras last Thursday as he embarked on one of his first public appearances since the release of Prince Harry’s explosive memoir Spare.
Dressed in a brown tweed jacket and kilt, the King beamed as he arrived at the Aboyne and Mid-Deeside Community Shed in Aberdeenshire to the sound of bagpipes playing Scotland The Brave. Charles, 74, had also appeared in public four days prior to this as he attended the Sunday Service at St Lawrence Church in Ingworth, Norfolk.
The royal family have remained tight-lipped in the wake of 38-year-old Harry’s shocking claims, and royal expert Jennie Bond says their strategy to carry on as normal is the quickest way to “shut down the story”.
She told us, “The story is blowing over for now. And if they come out and say something, it’ll be all over the papers for another week. I think it’s quite a well-trodden strategy, and frustrating as it is to journalists, I don’t think they’re going to say anything.”
