Spencer Matthews is feeling loved-up. He has just returned from a wonderful adults-only holiday with his wife Vogue Williams and he’s basking in the afterglow. “It was beautiful,” says Spencer, recalling the three-day skiing trip. It was extra romantic for their pair, as they fell in love on the slopes when they took part in The Jump in 2017, although Vogue had to drop out when she sustained a knee injury. Spencer, who went on to win the series, proposed a year after they started dating and one month later they announced that Vogue was pregnant.
“It was actually the first time we’ve been away together without kids since we first met,” says Spencer, 35. “We went to Paris, just the two of us, seven years ago, back when we first met, and we realised on this ski holiday this was only the second trip of that nature.”
The couple were married in June 2018 at Spencer’s family’s Glen Affric estate – a fairy-tale castle, complete with Rapunzel-style turrets, in Scotland. Their first son, Theodore, five, was born in the September, followed by their daughter, Gigi, three, in July 2020, and Otto, who turns two next month. The pair clearly love family life, but Spencer admits starting a family so soon meant they didn’t really take advantage of being a carefree couple.
“We were rather quick on the old, ‘Let’s have loads of kids’ thing,” he says, laughing. “It’s fine but it was quite interesting waking up and not having the responsibility of the three children to kind of look after. It felt quite strange at first, but obviously very nice in the end.”
