Lisa Snowdon is a woman on a mission. “I want to spread the word that getting older means getting better,” the model turned TV and radio presenter tells OK!.
“Women in their forties and fifties have so much life experience. We need to be celebrated. We’re in our second spring – and you know what? That means the best is yet to come.”
That’s obviously true for Lisa who, having gone through some well-documented dark times of her own, has emerged into mid-life stronger and more confident than ever.
It’s that confidence which has prompted the 51-year-old to become a powerful advocate for women in mid-life and to delve deep into her own experiences to produce a new book, Just Getting Started – Lessons in Life, Love and Menopause.
And while the book – part handbook, part memoir – addresses the worst aspects of her experience of the menopause, Lisa is also keen to pass on the tips and hints she has found useful to look and feel great in your forties, fifties and beyond.
“That’s why the book is called Just Getting Started, because I feel like it’s a positive way to look at this new phase. It’s all about hope,” Lisa explains, her passion for the subject coming over loud and clear.
“Getting older can bring such negativity from society and I was cheesed off with it. I was cheesed off with people saying to me, ‘Ooh, you’ll be 50 soon’, with this slightly doom and gloom attitude.
