The class of 2024 is looking very exciting, with some stand-out stars to watch out for. Culture expert Nick Ede believes it will be a bumper year in film, TV and music, and these incredible women will soon be household names.
After her sensational performance in Flora And Son, Nick believes Eve Hewson will get the credit she deserves.
Nick says, "There's a lot of talk about nepo babies, and Eve may be Bono's daughter, but she's proved she's a super-talented actress adept at any genre."
West Side Story's Rachel Zegler may have faced some negative press in 2023, but it got people talking about her. "This feisty star won't let that stop her," says Nick. "She's a poster girl for the Latina community and she's a triple threat: singing, dancing and acting."
Heartstopper's Yasmin Finney is set to be huge, thinks Nick. "Yasmin has done so much for the LGBTQ+ community," he says. "She will gain even more fans with her role in Doctor Who, and I can see her fronting fashion campaigns and starring on the West End stage, too.
"Lily Gladstone is a bookies' favourite to win an Oscar for Killers Of The Flower Moon," he continues. "She has the beauty and talent to become the next Cate Blanchett."
Molly Gordon is another talent Nick believes is a star in the making. He says, "Her parents are in the film business so she learned the ropes from an early age, and now she's proving herself as an actress, writer and director."
Greta Lee is another actor touted for Oscar success. "Her stand-out role in Past Lives will catapult her career," he predicts. "I can see her doing romantic films, sci fi, even getting into a suit for the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
"Ambika Mod is already a BAFTA Breakthrough Artist," says Nick of the This Is Going To Hurt star, "But she's got so many strings to her bow. Being an actor, writer and comedian, she's going to make it massive in 2024."
