The Prince and Princess of Wales greeted the President and the First Lady, at their hotel, on behalf of the King and then travelled with them to Horse Guards Parade, where the President and the First Lady received a Ceremonial Welcome.
Presentations were made, the Guard of Honour gave a Royal Salute and the Republic of Korea’s National Anthem was played. Accompanied by the King, the President then inspected the Guard of Honour, F Company Scots Guards. Afterwards, the President and the First Lady joined the King and Queen, and the Prince and Princess of Wales, in a carriage procession along The Mall to Buckingham Palace, where they were met by a second Guard of Honour, 1st Battalion Welsh Guards.
Following a private lunch at Buckingham Palace, His Majesty invited the President and the First Lady to view a special exhibition in the Picture Gallery of items from the Royal Collection relating to the Republic of Korea.
After lunch, the President and the First Lady took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Korean War Memorial, to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of the war.
