After the Thembalethu residents recently took to the streets and protested outside of the gated Echelon Estate, tensions are at an all-time high. They demand justice and former mayor Castro (Aubrey Poo) is facing backlash for stealing their land.
With Castro in turmoil for misdeeds, he hires political fixer Melisizwe Nobengela (Dumisani Mbebe) to clean up his mess. “It doesn’t take long until Melisiz- we and his family move into Castro’s home, and the fixer devises a strategy to restore the former mayor’s reputation,” explains Dumisani. Melisizwe sets out to reconstruct Castro’s image and make his scandals disappear as if they never existed. “Melisizwe wears many hats as a fixer. He is a spin doctor and puppet master among other things,” adds the actor. More than anything, Melisizwe is cut-throat and goes out of his way to ensure that his clients are happy, but underneath the ferocity is a man who’s hiding a secret about relocating.
