Motivation can be a strange thing. There are times when we’re completely in the zone and it’s easy to keep the momentum going. There are other times when it’s a struggle, and we’re left wondering where we ever found all that zeal and determination.

While this could apply to pretty much anything, celeb trainer Tiffiny Hall says it’s especially common when we’re trying to get started on a fitness journey. If exercising regularly is something you haven’t done for a while, it can seem impossible to get into a routine until you take that first all-important step.

“If you’re standing at the bottom of the fitness mountain, it’s super overwhelming,” says Hall, who discusses fitness motivation and more in her podcast Bounce Forward. “Once you get the momentum, you’re climbing, you’re going well – but getting started is the hardest part.”
