MICHAEL PARKINSON 1935-2023 - A STAR REMEMBERED

The show business world is in mourning after losing “TV Titan” and “king of the chat show”, Sir Michael Parkinson. The raconteur passed away on August 16, aged 88. “After a brief illness Sir Michael Parkinson passed away peacefully at home last night in the company of his family,” his loved ones said in a statement.

Parkinson, or “Parky” as he was fondly called by friends and fans, will be remembered as being one of the greatest broadcasters in history. His extraordinary TV career saw him interview the world’s biggest stars, including Muhammad Ali, John Lennon and Madonna. And while his interviews ranged from downright hilarious to wildly uncomfortable and sometimes outrageously inappropriate, the journalist often said he had been blessed with incredible interviewees. “I had the best of it, in terms of the guests I could choose from,” he once said of his heyday. “The older ones and the newer ones, and also the kind of television that was being shown in those days. It was bliss.”
