For the first time in more than a year, they were in the same room together again. On Aug. 29, Prince William attended a memorial service for his uncle Lord Robert Fellowes — who was married to Princess Diana’s sister Jane. And in a stunning twist, Prince Harry made an appearance as well.

“They steered clear of each other and didn’t speak at all,” a source says of the battling brothers, who had last crossed paths at their father’s coronation in May 2023. “But it was nice for Harry to be there with Diana’s relatives, especially because it was just two days before the 27th anniversary of her death.” He even stayed at the family’s ancestral estate, Althorp House. “The Spencers always make him feel at home.”

And they may soon be welcoming him back for good. As Harry approached his milestone birthday this year — he turned 40 on Sept. 15 — “he reconnected with a lot of relatives and old friends he hadn’t spoken with in years and reevaluated his life,” the source says, adding that, in the end, Harry made a life-changing decision: After four years in Montecito, Calif., with wife Meghan Markle and their kids, Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3, “Harry wants to move back to England. He has secretly been plotting with old pals to forge a path to reconciliation with King Charles and Princess Kate. Friends are calling it Harry’s Great Escape!”
