Apple reveals its vision of the future

There was speculation before Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) that this year’s event  could be the biggest in years, and so it proved to be.

In a jam-packed show, Apple revealed an enormous range of new products, from updated Macs and a ground-breaking mixed reality headset, dubbed the Vision Pro, to major updates of the company’s operating systems as well an all-new one: visionOS.

But it was the Vision Pro that generated the biggest buzz. Combing augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (AR) experiences in a single device, it marks Apple’s first major new entry into a product category since it introduced the Apple Watch in 2014 and could yet usher in an era of what Apple calls ‘spatial computing’. Its demo showed the headset being put to all kinds of uses – from 3D photo and video recording to movie viewing, gaming and productivity with truly stunning results.
