From £1,399 > FROM apple.com/uk> FEATURES Apple M2 chip, 8GB unified memory (16GB/24GB available), 15.3in Liquid Retina display (2880x1864), 256GB storage (512GB/1TB/2TB available), Wi-Fi 6 (aka 802.11ax Wi-Fi), Bluetooth 5.3, 2x Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports, MagSafe 3 port, 3.5mm headphone jack
Now here’s a surprise: Apple has taken everything we know about the ‘world’s best-selling laptop’ and super-sized it, increasing the dimensions of its Liquid Retina display from 13.6-inch to 15.3-inch.
That’s brilliant news for anyone who wants a big-screen laptop from Apple but can’t afford the swoon-inducing price of the current 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro (which start at £2,149 and £2,699 respectively).
The MacBook Air 15-inch starts at £1,399. That entry-level price nets you a slim, stylish and beautifully built laptop equipped with an Apple silicon M2 chip comprising an 8-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 8GB of unified memory and 256GB of storage, while the step-up £1,599 model gets 512GB of storage. To increase the specs from there, you’ll need to delve into the build-to-order options, where costs can rapidly ramp up – choosing 16GB of memory will add another £200 to the purchase price, while 24GB will set you back £400. Likewise, increasing the amount of on-board storage costs £200 for a 512GB SSD, £400 for a 1TB SSD and £800 for a 2TB SSD. The version we’re looking at in this review costs £1,799 with 16GB of memory and 512GB of solid-state storage.
