Manish Malhotra has been responsible for M some of the most iconic on-screen looks, has a coveted bridal line that Kiara Advani recently wore for her nuptials to Sidharth Malhotra, and a jewellery line. In 2022, he pivoted to launch the Manish Malhotra Luxury Makeup collection that is equal parts luxe and high performance.
Excerpts from an interview
You've been a costume designer and fashion designer for the longest time - what made you want to launch a beauty line?
I love continuously innovating and adding new dimensions to my existing gamut of work, so foraying into makeup was a very natural fit in my journey. I believe fashion and beauty are categories that complement each other really well. Makeup is a medium to celebrate individuality and express ourselves. With Manish Malhotra Luxury Makeup, my wish is to give individuals a platform, medium, and place to express themselves. We want our customers to enjoy a little bit of luxury every day, and celebrate the star within them.
After your years in the film and fashion industry, what similarities did you see while designing a clothing collection and a beauty line?
