LIGHTEN UP

Skip the metallics in favour of pale hues on your peepers.

LIGHTEN UP

Then it comes to makeup for the night, we love our shimmers and metallics - with When eyeshadows and strobing creams in our arsenal. It's now time to try something new. Karisma Kapoor opted for pale lids at a recent event and that got us taking notice.

GET THE LOOK

1 Since the look is very matte, start with a gentle cleanser that helps get rid of sebum, oil and dirt. Once your face is dry, apply a hydrating moisturiser and massage it in. Then, apply a primer on your skin to keep oil splotches from appearing and to improve the longevity of the makeup.

2 Fill in your brows using a brow -pencil and push the eyebrows upwards with a spoolie. Apply a bit of eyelid primer on your lids, and then a neutral eyeshadow on your lids and crease; this will help form the base of your eyeshadow and make it pop. With a blending eye brush, sweep a light mauve eyeshadow on your lids, then a light layer of silver shimmer that offers a mere glimpse of shine. With a felt-tip eyeliner, draw a winged line from the inner corner to the outer; do not extend it beyond. Line your lower lid with a blue kajal pencil. Finish off with mascara.

3 Dot concealer around your under your eyes, and blend. Pick a matte or long-wearing foundation and dab it into your skin with either a blender or stippling brush; this will ensure you have that second skin-like finish. Dab a bit of loose powder to further set your makeup. Swirl a large blush brush into your palette, tap it to remove any excess, and sweep it across the apples of your cheeks.
