Shirley MacLaine, the actress who helped popularize the idea of reincarnation with her 1984 memoir Out on a Limb, has long been open to discussing her past lives. In her new memoir The Wall of Life: Pictures and Stories From This Marvelous Lifetime, she's strictly focused on this one. Through previously unseen photos, she takes readers on a nine-decade journey from her Virginia childhood with her baby brother Warren Beatty to her current era as one of Hollywood's most enduring stars.
The idea for a photo book started at home. "One day I was looking at my wall of pictures and just taking everything into consideration, and I thought I should write about this," MacLaine, 90, says.
