Paul O'Grady's special affinity for animals was legendary and in Paul O'Grady's Great Elephant Adventure, the last series he filmed before his sudden death in March 2023, he got the chance to meet some of the world's most revered but endangered creatures.
The two-part ITV1 documentary, starting this week, follows the late presenter as he journeys across Thailand and Laos to learn about the plight of the Asian elephant, whose numbers are dwindling, and visits several wildlife sanctuaries, where many of the rescued elephants have permanent disabilities from being forced to do gruelling work.
