LAND OF WOMEN
FROM WEDNESDAY 26 JUNE, APPLE TV+ COMEDY DRAMA (FIRST TWO EPISODES FROM 26 JUNE, THEN WEEKLY)
Eva Longoria shot to global fame in the early noughties as Gabrielle Solis in hit US suburban saga Desperate Housewives.
Having since achieved success behind the camera as a director and producer, the Texan star is making a much-anticipated return to our screens this week in a new female-focused comedy-drama, where desperate times call for desperate measures!
Launching on Apple TV+ with a double bill, glossy six-part series Land of Women sees Eva as New York socialite Gala, who appears to have it all with a handsome husband, Fred (played by Malpractice’s James Purefoy), a stunning wardrobe and the launch of her own wine business on the horizon.
But her perfect world comes crashing down when she learns Fred owes $15 million to some gangsters, who want their money right now!
After Fred vanishes and worried for her family’s safety, Gala is forced to leave the city with her ageing mother, Julia (legendary Spanish actor Carmen Maura), and teenage daughter Kate (newcomer Victoria Bazua). The trio head to La Muga, a (fictional) charming wine town in northern Spain that Julia fled 50 years ago and vowed never to return to.
But as they try to start afresh and keep their identities secret, gossip spreads like wildfire and deeply-buried family secrets soon start to unravel!
Here, Eva, 49, who is also executive producer on the show, tells us why it’ll have us hooked…
