Her STORY

The rumours are true. Coronation Street favourite Debbie Webster is set to leave the famous cobbles as part of a huge new storyline that will see the effervescent businesswoman diagnosed with dementia.
Here, actor Sue Devaney, 57, who originally starred in the ITV soap between 1984 and 1985 before returning in 2019, shares her thoughts on the difficult road ahead for her character...
Debbie sees a medical specialist this week. What prompts her to get checked?
She starts losing things, like her purse, which she later finds in the fridge, and she's behaving erratically and shouting a lot, even at her loved ones. But I think the biggest thing is the transient ischaemic attacks. She has these mini strokes and falls over, and tries to ignore it. But when she sees the specialist, she realises something isn't right.
