LOVE ME
NEW WEDNESDAY, 9PM, W
DRAMA (BOX SET, UKTV PLAY)
What happens when Cupid's arrow strikes three members of a family while they are navigating the complexities of grief following a devastating loss? This is the question at the heart of Love Me, a six-part Australian drama that arrives on W this week.
Based on acclaimed Swedish series Älska mig, the Melbourneset story centres around kindly Everyman Glen Mathieson (played by Hugo Weaving), his 30-something daughter Clara and his 20-something son Aaron, who find themselves stumbling into new romances following the death of Christine, the wife and mum of the clan.
'It's a drama about life, love and family, and how love can happen when you least expect it,' shares British actor Hugo, 64, who moved to Oz in 1976.
'We're also exploring humanity and the need in everyone for love, and also the difficulty of dealing with loss and grief. When you put those two together at the same time, you have a wonderfully complex set of circumstances."
