THE LAZARUS PROJECT
NEW WED, 9PM, SKY MAX & SKY SHOWCASE
DRAMA (BOX SET, SKY BOX SETS & NOW)
The power to rewrite the past can be very dangerous in the wrong hands, as we saw in the first series of Sky Max’s sci-fi drama The Lazarus Project. After being recruited by the titular organisation, which can turn back time to prevent the end of the world, George (The Capture’s Paapa Essiedu) was devastated when his girlfriend Sarah (Charly Clive) died in an accident. His boss Wes (Caroline Quentin) declined to intervene because it was a personal tragedy, not a global one, and George went rogue, deliberately triggering an apocalypse to force Wes’ hand.
George’s plan worked when time was reset and Sarah survived, but she later ended their relationship – and George’s mentor Archie (Anjli Mohindra) discovered his betrayal.
As the show returns for a second season, the Lazarus agents have become stuck in a never-ending cycle, forced to relive the same three weeks leading to a doomsday scenario they cannot avert… or can they?
TV Times caught up with Paapa, 33, Anjli, 33, and Caroline, 63, to find out more…
In light of all that’s happened, does George regret his actions?
PAAPA Well, obviously, getting dumped wasn’t a great validation for setting off a nuclear bomb! I actually don’t think he regrets it; he just doesn’t understand why everyone doesn’t see things the way he does!
