BAY OF FIRES NEW FROM THURSDAY 23 MAY, ITVX DRAMA
With a perfect blend of suspense, sun and spectacular backdrops, Australian crime dramas are having a bit of a moment in the UK. And it's something that actor Marta Dusseldorp, recently seen in ITV's Oz import The Twelve, tells us she is thrilled about, as she joins TV Times for an exclusive chat to discuss her Tasmaniaset project Bay of Fires, which she not only headlines but also co-created and produced!
Arriving on ITVX this week, the eight-parter sees Marta, 51, play Melbourne-based CEO Anika Van Cleef, who's forced to flee to (fictional) backwater Mystery Bay - or 'Misery Bay' as the hostile locals call it under the assumed identity of Stella Heikkinen after two hitmen make an attempt on her life. But could it be a case of out of the frying pan and into the fire?
Here, Marta tells us why she hopes it has us on the edge of our seats...
How would you sum up Bay of Fires, Marta?
When we pitched it originally, we described it as Fargo meets Ozark meets Schitt's Creek. So it's a thriller but with comedy undertones.
