Stepping into the ring with boxer Anthony Joshua is not for the faint-hearted. However, Louis Theroux does just that as he interviews the former world heavyweight champion in the first of a new run of his profile series, which also features encounters with actors Dame Joan Collins and Ashley Walters, musicians Pete Doherty and Raye, as well as American whistleblower Chelsea Manning.
Louis hangs out backstage with 'AJ' after a fight, in a north London gym, and on the Watford estate where the&nbsp;34-year-old fighter grew up. And Louis doesn't pull his punches.
'There are these&nbsp;elephants in the room with boxing that don't get explored,' he says. 'For instance, the long-term health consequences.'
After plenty of joking, an impromptu rap battle and squaring up in the ring, Louis probes deeper and discovers AJ's sensitive side. It seems other people's&nbsp;opinions are more of a worry for the boxer than the physical risks of his sport.
'If anything, he's more bruised by the feeling of the judgement,' says Louis. 'He repeats this quote, "The sport don't love you back," and there's almost a sort of loneliness, and being underappreciated.'
