AND just like that she’s back! Of course, she’s not back quite as much as fans would’ve liked, but judging by the buzz Kim Cattrall has created with just a few moments on screen, anything is better than nothing for Samantha Jones supporters.
The blonde who brought the screen siren to life in Sex and the City has been notably absent from the show’s recent revival, And Just Like That. Bad blood, bitchy back-and-forths and open animosity between her and Sarah Jessica Parker ensured Kim stayed away from the 2021 reboot of the hit franchise.
The second season recently launched and given how wild fans went for even just a few moments of Samantha, many wondered if she’s the real star of the show.
Kim steps into Samantha’s shoes for just one scene in the final episode where she’ll have a phone conversation with SJP’s character, Carrie Bradshaw.
It’s unclear how much she was paid to return but it must’ve been a pretty penny considering her history with her famous co-star.
Things are still so tense between them that she refused to be on set with her or showrunner Michael Patrick King.
Kim shot her one scene alone at a soundstage in Queens, insiders say, and the rest of the cast weren’t aware it was happening because the scene didn’t appear on the show’s call sheet.
Fans shouldn’t get their hopes up for a full return – it’s time to retire the beloved character, Kim says.
"This is as far as I'm going to go, but I don't think I'll ever say goodbye to Samantha," she says. "She gave me so much and I'm so appreciative of her."
