SHE was reluctant to tie the knot and admitted marriage scared the wits out of her.
Yet that didn’t stop Shakira from falling head over heels for Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué and going on to have two children with him. Together they built a beautiful life – the pop star wrote love songs about her blue-eyed boyfriend and cheered him on with their sons during his time at Barcelona.
Now it’s all over – and while the pair issued a statement saying they were putting on a united front for the sake of their kids, it’s become clear things are anything but amicable.
Reports surfaced that Gerard (35) had cheated on Shakira (45) with a younger woman and had moved out of the home he shared with her and their sons, Milan (9) and Sasha (7).
Then came a bitter custody battle and the ink had barely dried on the agreement when he was spotted all loved-up at a wedding in Italy with his new girlfriend, 23-year-old public-relations student Clara Chia Marti.
Shakira describes the split as the darkest hours of her life, adding her ex had broken a pact they’d made that neither would be seen in public with a new love interest for at least a year.
“I’ve remained quiet and just tried to process it all,” she tells Elle magazine. “It’s hard to talk about it, especially because I’m still going through it and because I’m in the public eye.”
But now the She Wolf singer’s claws have come out. From releasing a savage revenge song to taking swipes at Gerard’s lover and taunting his mom with a bizarre witch doll, the Colombian dynamo is airing her dirty laundry.
We take a look at their explosive split.
