<p><em>O</em>nce associated with physical exercise and&nbsp;confined to sports arenas, the humble sneaker has since been elevated to a pivotal element of one&rsquo;s attire in the last two decades. The sneaker is now a crucial component of the modern-day wardrobe, its status elevated from everyday functional to prized sartorial goods that can up your street cred in a snap of the fingers. It&rsquo;s no wonder luxury brands have lost no time getting in on the sneaker action, resulting in a second evolution of the trainers&mdash;one that chronicles the eclectic fusion of street-style edginess with design signifiers synonymous with the brands&rsquo; aesthetic codes.</p>
<p>Take the Dior Chrono, for example, which was unveiled in late February. At first glance, the Chrono&rsquo;s bold and streamlined silhouette bears a striking resemblance to the previously released Dior Vibe sneakers. But look closer and you&rsquo;ll chance upon a plethora of stylistic differences. Complete with two-toned laces, the Chrono&rsquo;s distinctive facade is adorned with sporty fishnet and leather-effect inserts; channelling the classic runner&rsquo;s shoe with a touch of athletic chic. Certain models include metallic swaths of silver and gold that outline specific parts of the shoe, while others are dressed in subtle shades of beige and white.</p>

The &ldquo;CD&rdquo; motif on each side of the shoe pays homage to Monsieur&rsquo;s Dior heritage, while a star recalls the auspicious shooting star that the couturier spotted on his way to work. Beyond its motifs, the common sneaker ethos of &ldquo;Comfort is King&rdquo; is also not lost on the luxury behemoth: The sneaker&rsquo;s intentional design includes supple cushioning and a lightweight sole that maximises comfort.&nbsp;</p>
