Nicolas Ghesquière presented the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2022 women's ready-to-wear collection at Paris' Musée d'Orsay-giving us a cultural moment for posterity by becoming the first ever fashion house to host a runway show at the museum. The subtextual context of time has played a monumental role in Nicolas' design vocabulary, spanning his tenure at the Maison. He is known to seek artistic harmony through clashing references and centuries in the process. This showcase was no different, as it focused more on the time frame of youth to explore a stylistic idea of adolescence than a specific era. The collection urged to reconnect with an instinct for clothing devoid of conventions. In turn, the wearable art created by Nicolas claimed its sweet spot amidst the other treasures at the d'Orsay.
Celebrities Emma Stone, Julianne Moore, Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner, Cynthia Erivo and youth icons Emma Chamberlain and Chiara Ferragni were in attendance. The first look set the tone for the entire collection and season. Model, Squid Game star and house ambassador HoYeon Jung opened the show dressed in baggy pinstriped men's trousers and a classic white shirt paired with an oversized bomber jacket and a kitschy printed necktie, perfectly balanced with subtle elegance and feminine details such as jewelled buttons. The look represented the effortless chic of a Parisian teenager inspired by cultural references, idols, heroes and heroines. She mixes and matches from her wardrobe and borrows some from her boyfriend's-expressing the freedom of movement and comfort.
