CRAFT & CAUSE

If fashion presentations are meant to evoke extreme emotion, offer a deep dive into a brand's DNA, and rep a greater cause while being an absolute Instagrammable extravaganza, then Rewild'23, staged by Anita Dongre at Jaipur's iconic City Palace with the able support of Princess Gauravi Kumari of the erstwhile royal family of Jaipur, ticks all the boxes.

It's no news that the city of Jaipur resonates strongly with Dongre, given it's her hometown and a long-time muse for the designer. "My brand was born in Jaipur and the whole story is about Jaipur. My first shoot was here and I use their crafts like gota patti- it's Rajasthani but rooted in Jaipur. When I decided to do a show after almost four and half years, it had to be here; I think I had decided this almost 10 years ago. I was talking to Pacho [Sawai Padmanabh Singh of Jaipur and Princess Gauravi Kumari's brother] after the show, and he said it had been a 10-year-old dream of his as well, to do an international level show here. We both laughed at the fact that we had somehow manifested this day together."
