The dynamic duo at the helm of Prada, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, have made it their mission to defy convention in their designs. Together, they have deconstructed traditional eveningwear, re-shaped classic tailored outerwear and revived "ugly chic" shades of neon yellow and green. In their latest Spring/Summer 2024 collection, they set their sights on revisiting a long-loved technique in the history of the Italian fashion house: fringe.
This unique exploration of fringe dates back decades, having seen inventive reincarnations in leather, metal chains, crystal beads, and more on garments and accessories. It was a significant feature in Prada's A/W '20 collection, key pieces of which were featured in its subsequent "Tools of Memory" campaign, an online auction in collaboration with Sotheby's to raise money for charity.
