The fabled grounds of Prince Jun’s Mansion in Beijing — a sprawling courtyard with hundreds of years of history, housing ancient buildings of traditional Chinese style, and a majestic private garden and pond.
It was at this storied residence and tranquil environment that Cartier revealed chapter two of its Le Voyage Recommencé High Jewellery collection — proudly putting them on display amongst 380 of the Maison’s exceptional pieces. The presentation was backed by two equally grandiose gala dinners — one of which was attended by the house’s ambassadors including Gong Li, Lily Collins, Jackson Wang and Li Xian — held at the Juyongguan Great Wall of China.
Beijing was the second stop for Cartier’s Le Voyage Recommencé after the collection’s f irst chapter was unveiled in Florence in May. At a panel talk with Cartier’s Image, Style and Heritage Director, Pierre Rainero, and the house’s gemstone glyptic expert, Philippe Nicolas, Rainero is quick to point out that the Maison has had close ties with Beijing for decades — the brand has collaborated with the Forbidden City’s Palace Museum three times since 1996.
