I'm in a state of being happy-restless: happy with everything I'm doing right now, but restless to do more," says Kriti Sanon. Talking to the multi-hyphenate is like downing a shot of iced espresso. The enthusiasm with which she volleys answers to my questions, despite our late meeting, gives me a rousing jolt as well.

A self-confessed skincare nerd, Sanon's journey in the beauty space began with her modelling career. "Your face goes through so much every day-lights, pollution, makeup that you have to take care of your skin and give it nutrients from the inside and outside," she says.

This focus peaked during the lockdown when she turned 30 and became more serious about skincare. The time at home allowed her to deep-dive into ingredients-she casually drops alpha arbutin, kojic acid and tranexamic acid in conversation and brought her attention to a gap in the Indian market for affordable, good quality problem-solving skincare. Enter Hyphen, which counts Sanon as its co-founder and chief customer officer. The businesswoman-actor's glowing visage is enough argument that she may have more than a skincare secret or two up her sleeve. And luckily, she's willing to share them.

Earliest beauty memory: Giving my mum a facial.

Day-time beauty routine: If I'm working out, I use a cleanser. Otherwise I prefer products that have antioxidants and brightening, hydrating qualities, like the Golden Hour Glow face serum, followed by sunscreen and the All I Need lipscreen. These are Hyphen products that I use myself. I'm not endorsing them and personally using something else.
