María Adánez first gained recognition as Lucía in ‘Aquí no hay quien viva’, Spanish television’s favorite posh girl. For two decades, she’s been continuously working and achieving numerous successes, both as a director and by portraying a variety of characters in film, television, and theater.
This year is particularly busy for the actress, with three premieres: two in cinemas, another on the stages of Matadero Madrid, and she is reprising her role as Rebeca in a series she considers her home, ‘La Que se Avecina’.
“These are busy months with a lot of work presenting the two films at the Malaga festival and with nerves, eagerness, and excitement hoping that the audience will receive them well because they are two very different films,” María shares. ‘Checkmates’’ tells an inspiring story of overcoming through chess based on true events, while ‘Invasion’ delves into the complexity of war conflicts through the pacifist view of its protagonist.
